The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Lagos West Senatorial District, Mr. Segun Adewale, on Friday dedicated his victory in the just concluded primaries to the people of the district, especially youths who he said had been badly represented in the last 15 years. Adewale won the PDP senatorial primary beating Mr. Dapo Sarumi, Mr. Adegoke Salvador and Mr. Olakunle Amunikoro. He hailed the delegates for showing confidence in him and promised that he would not let them down. The PDP candidate said he decided to seek election into the senate to provide robust representation to his people. He said if there was any group of people that had been abandoned in Lagos State since 1999; it was those in the Lagos West Senatorial District. Apart from Ikeja Local Government Area, according to him, other Local Governments such as Badagry, Amuwo-Odofin, Ifako-Ijaiye, Oshodi, Mushin and others are backward in terms of Infrastructural development. “The government has been unable to provide potable water, their roads are in a terrible state with little or no industries,” he said. He said when juxtaposed with other senatorial districts such as the Lagos Central where some roads are even built with interlocking stones, it becomes clearer that the government has deliberately abandoned the Lagos West Senatorial District without any just cause. The PDP candidate said it is unfortunate that Lagos West Senatorial District is the largest yet most underdeveloped of all the three districts. He referred to that part of town as the hub of the less privileged and poverty-ridden people due to lack of empowerment from government. He assured he would defend the cause of the people as well as ameliorate their sufferings.
