Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal
The
Deputy Chairman of the House
of Representatives Committee on Finance,
Mr. Yomi Ogunnusi, has said the All Progressives Congress will win next
year’s presidential election if it fields the Speaker of the House,
Aminu Tambuwal, as its presidential candidate; and Rivers State
Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate.
Ogunnusi, who represents Ifako/Ijaye
Federal constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly, said
a former Head of State, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari, should not emerge as
the party’s presidential candidate but should remain as an elder
statesman.
Also, he said a former Governor of Lagos
State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, should not be involved in political
administration but should stay on the sideline and play the “Obafemi
Awolowo role as leader of the Yoruba.”
He said this during an interview with our
correspondent shortly after presenting his scorecard to his
constituents in Lagos, on Sunday.
He said, “In my opinion, Tambuwal should
be the presidential candidate of the APC while Amaechi should be the
Vice President. Tambuwal is not a tribalist, he knows all of us in the
House up to our constituencies.”
